Using the body and design of the original fuel pumps these have one major difference. Instead of the original points which are always sticking and causing problems they are replaced by electronic points thus eliminating any problems created by the original design.
The rear-mounted fuel tank held 12 imperial gallons (about 54 litres) although larger tanks were available as optional extras (see list). The fuel tank was painted black and was plaecd on the floor of the boot, and was held in place by two black straps which were modified at chassis number 151608. The filler neck in the rear right-hand corner of the tank had a twist-lock chrome-plated cap. The fuel filler cap was inside the boot for security. The fuel pump was an electric SU 'L' type (high pressure) pump, specification PP36. It was mounted behind the heelboard on the left-hand side of the car and was accessible once the left-hand rear wheel had been removed.
